Chelsea - here I come!

Well folks, I'm off the the great metropolis for an orgy of flowers and gardens, courtesy of the Royal Horticultural Society - yes its Chelsea Flower Show time once again. Well of course it is - the weather is awful, its dull, muddy underfoot and rain is threatened! This is the 100th anniversary of this event,  so no doubt, as well as the latest and greatest in the horticultural world, we will be treated to a huge helping of horticultural nostalgia.

Chelsea 2012
I'm judging in the Floral Pavilion - which is both fun, a privilege and a responsibility. At least we won't get wet but that marquee can be cold at 8am when we judge!  I've yet to be bribed for a Gold Medal or threatened when one wasn't awarded but its all very serious to the exhibitors who are often preparing for this the whole year. A week ago, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by local BBC television as a prequel to Chelsea from the judge's viewpoint. This went out on East Midlands Today last Thursday but for those of you that didn't see it - most of you I guess - here it is! Don't try and play in full screen, the resolution is poor, but the content is quality!

Well there you go - start of a new career? Watch out Monty and Alan! More about Chelsea when I get back mid week. In the meantime if you want a great overview of what's in store for the Chelsea visitor, check out  Alternative Eden, Mark and Gaz's great blog, where you can see the plans for all the gardens and a whole lot more.
